Members,
In this season of flu, viral and other respiratory illnesses, we want to share some general preventive best practices with you, as well as measures the YMCA is taking. These are hygiene practices we should all be doing REGULARLY regardless of the season. In addition to the below, you can also visit www.cdc.gov for more information.
- Wash and sanitize your hands regularly. Sanitizing dispensers, wipes and spray bottles can be found throughout all of our YMCA facilities.
- Utilize towels and clean YMCA equipment with disinfectant spray before and after use.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick (and remain home for 24 hours after symptoms have disappeared).
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue (then discard the tissue in the trash).
Measures the YMCA is taking this season:
- Increased availability of hand sanitizer, wipes, towels, etc.
- Increased frequency of cleaning YMCA areas such as wellness floors, doors, knobs, group exercise areas, bathrooms, and child watch.
- The YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga recently upgraded its disinfectant solution to a higher kill factor. Per the CDC, our disinfectant sprays, wipes and sanitizers are now 60% or higher alcohol.
Thank you for working with us to ensure your YMCAs are safe and welcoming.
