Our Swim Club program offers children and teens an opportunity to work with coaches to improve swimming skills, endurance and promote a healthy lifestyle. Participants build character values through personal improvement, training, goal-setting and teamwork.

What skills does my child need to join this program?

Participants are expected to be able to pass the YMCA swim test in order to be eligible for the swim club. This program is designed to be the next stage after a child has completed Level 6/Swim Strokes of the YMCA Swim Lesson Program.

What will my child do in the swim club each day?

Daily practices will include a 30 minute land session where participants will stretch, work on improving stamina, and do basic body weight exercises to increase strength. After this participants will have 1 hour of instruction in the pool in a variety of different workouts aiming to increase their knowledge and ability in different swimming strokes, as well as improve their endurance in the water.

How old does my child need to be to participate?

Swim club is for youth ages 6 to 17 years.

What equipment will my child need for this program?

Recommended equipment includes: kickboard, goggles, swim fins, pull buoy and exercise mat for dry land workouts.

Can my child attend practices at both branches?

Practices will be held at the branch that you are registered for.

What happens if my child is sick and I have to miss a practice?

The YMCA does not provide make-up sessions for personal absences.

Do parents have to stay for practice?

Parents or guardians MUST remain on property during the swim club practice. If a parent or guardian is on property, but not on the pool deck the parent should notify the swim coach of their location in case of emergency.

If you are NOT a YMCA member then you must remain on the pool deck with your child during practice.

What is the cancellation policy?

To cancel you must go to your home Y branch and provide a 30 day written notice by completing and signing the YMCA cancellation form.

*Please note you must provide the 30 day notice prior to your draft date to avoid additional charge. If 30 days does not remain between the date of cancellation and your next draft you will be drafted 1 more time.
