MEET NINA: GROUP EX INSTRUCTOR
Nina shared that her personal fitness journey truly began turn in her 30’s, when she survived a head-on collision with a drunk driver. She said this was specifically thanks to her seatbelt. The accident led to three years of physical therapy, during which she used a wheelchair, a walker, and relearned to walk entirely. This life-changing experience deepened her understanding of physical health and the importance of daily exercise.

A member of the Y for 25 years and an instructor for 13, Nina now teaches Active Older Adults, where she said “We’re not trying to be body builders, but trying to build our bodies.”
Her classes emphasize muscle isolation and have helped participants lose 20-30 lbs, gain approval from doctors, and achieve activities they previously struggled with.
Alongside her amazing story & continuous community impact here at the Y, Nina is a dedicated mother of three, with her two younger children working at the YMCA as well. She enjoys cooking and sharing healthy living tips, and also aids in rescuing pets & reuniting lost pets with their owners.
Thank you for all that you do Nina!
