Cleveland Member of the month - Charles

MEET CHARLES: MEMBER OF THE MONTH

If you don't already know Charles, here's bit about him:

From as early as he can remember, Charles has always been into sports and fitness. He played basketball, football and baseball. You name it - Charles has played it! He even took tap & ballet from ages 11-14 to help improve his coordination and agility for sports!

His YMCA journey began a few years ago. Charles and his wife were both Y members, and while she was an avid group ex class participant, Charles preferred to work out solo on the wellness floor. After being inspired by her to try group exercise, Charles decided to try Nina's Active Older Adults class (AOA) as a warm-up before a training session. He said that what was supposed to be a warm-up became his daily workout, and he didn't make it through the full hour of his first AOA class.

From there, Charles continued to take AOA, took up training sessions, lost over 30 lbs, and dropped his blood pressure by over 20 points! Charles said that over the last couple of years, Nina, his trainer and his wife have helped build both his physical & spiritual health!

Thank you Charles for being a light in our YMCA family!
