Run for a Blessing 2025 — Virtual Run or Walk for a Cause

October 13 – December 12, 2025

Make every mile count! Run for a Blessing is a 60-day virtual run or walk open to all ages and fitness levels. Whether you're logging laps at the park or steps around your neighborhood, you’ll be joining a movement that’s making a difference for hungry children in our community.


 

Why We Run: Support Backpack Blessings

Your participation helps raise awareness and support for Backpack Blessings, a local YMCA program with a goal to reduce weekend hunger and help students return to school on Monday ready to learn.

 


How It Works

What: A virtual run or walk — choose your own pace, location and time

When: October 13 – December 12, 2025 (60 days)

Where: Anywhere you like! Track your miles using a fitness app or manually log them

Who: Open to individuals and families of all ages and abilities

Why: To support Backpack Blessings and help kids thrive in the classroom

Registration Options:

  • $40 – Includes commemorative race bib + December 16 event access (no t-shirt)

  • $60 – Includes commemorative race bib + December 16 event + long sleeve t-shirt

T-shirts will be available for pickup in November at Walker AEC. Bibs will be mailed after October 17.


 

Important Dates

  • Registration Opens: Monday, September 22

  • T-Shirt Guarantee Deadline: Register by October 17 to receive a t-shirt

  • Mileage Check-In: November 12

  • Final Mileage Submission: Due by December 14 at 5:00 PM

  • Post-Race Celebration & Meal Pack: December 16, 2025

Awards & Recognition

We use an honor system to track miles, but if you want to be considered for an award, you will need to track your mileage with a verified running app.

Most Miles Award: Track your mileage using an app like Strava, Nike Run Club, or Runkeeper to qualify

Age Group Recognition:

  • Age categories:

    • 14 and under

    • 15–19

    • 20–29

    • 30–39

    • 40–49

    • 50–59

    • 60–69

    • 70–79

    • 80+

  • Winners announced at the Post-Race Celebration on December 16

 


Track Your Progress

  • Set a Goal: Choose your personal mileage goal at registration

  • Check-In: Mid-event mileage check-in on November 12 via text (link provided)

  • Final Mileage Due: December 14 by 5:00 PM via text message

All participant mileage will be added together and revealed at the December 16 celebration!
