YStart Program
A FREE service to all members, YStart is a three-month personalized wellness program where you meet with a wellness coach for a consultation, orientation, two personal training and workout plan. This program combines strength and cardio training to help you reach your fitness goals with ease. Come by North River YMCA to learn more about the YStart membership program and begin you path to a healthier and happier you.

Find a Group Fitness class that fits you!
YMCA members have unlimited access to group fitness classes offering the fun, structure and motivation you need to stay on track with your health and fitness goals. Below is a list of classes offered at the North River YMCA. You can also view our other branch Ys group fitness schedule to find out about specific classes available near you. YMCA members have unlimited access to a wide variety of group fitness classes to help you stay on track with your health and fitness goals. These classes offer you fun, structure and motivation. GROUP EXERCISE SCHEDULE
Cardio Group Cycle: Spin your way through a simulated cycling ride filled with sprints, hill climbs and more. Classes are non-impact, great for cross-training and targeted to all fitness levels.
Advanced Step- Moderate to high intensity step class that increases cardiovascular and lower body strength. Overall body conditioning section is included along with core strengthening.
Cardio Cross Train- Maximize your exercise with a combination of step, kickboxing, circuit and strength training. Core strengthening section is included. Multi-level class and can be modified to include anyone.
Aerobic Hi-Lo- Come and join the fellowship! This class focuses on lively low-impact aerobics, strength training and balance training. This is a multi-level class.
Dance Fit: The latest in club moves with the best music grooves around, broken down in a step-by-step format.
Zumba®: One of the fastest-growing fitness crazes in the country, people of all ages are falling in love with Zumba's infectious music and easy-to-follow dance moves inspired by traditional salsa, samba and meringue.
Mind/Body Yoga Flow – Series of poses designed to unite movement and yoga to enhance flexibility and balance, all levels welcome, a great stress release.
Yoga II**- Fitness based Yoga. A more advanced class that focuses on power moves and enhance strengthening of muscles and core. Relaxation, stress relief and increased flexibility are the ultimate result of this class. (90 minute class on Saturday)
Yoga- Movement and Yoga unite in this one hour class designed to enhance flexibility and strength, while providing a relaxing atmosphere that allows participants to release the stress of daily living.
Mat Pilates: A mat-based class designed to strengthen and stretch the core muscles with a focus on breath-work as well.
Senior SilverSneakers® I – Muscular Strength & Range of Movement: Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
SilverSneakers® II - Cardio Circuit Class:Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
Senior Yoga- A combination of standing and seated (chair) poses, designed to enhance balance, strength & flexibility for seniors. A place to come relax and release stress. Breathing exercises assist in relation techniques and bring healthy giving oxygen to all parts of the body.
Strength Pump®: The original barbell workout! This class contains 10 proven tracks for whole-body results! Legs, chest, back, arms, shoulders and abs are worked in sequence, with new music and moves every three months.
Kettlebell Cardio Blast- This is a boot camp style intervals designed to challenge any fitness level, segments include cardio, strength and flexibility, core workout included, featuring kettlebell strength
