Group Exercise

The Downtown Family YMCA offers a wide range of group exercise classes! From aerobics and cardiovascular training to strength and resistance training to Yoga and Pilates, our classes are made for all levels of fitness from beginner to advanced.

Our classes are not only a great way to get in shape, but also a great way to meet new people. If you have any questions about our group exercise classes please give us a call, email, or come in and talk to any of our membership associates at the front desk.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:


CARDIO BLAST -- This interval class combines dancing, kickboxing, step, and a hi lo workout with a muscular strength and resistance workout to strengthen every muscle group

CIRCUIT BOXING -- A high intensity workout, alternating, strength, agility drills, running and boxing combos.

CIRCUIT (CARDIO SCULPT) -- This interval class combines dancing, kickboxing, step, and a hi lo workout with a muscular strength resistance workout to strengthen and stretch every muscle group.

CYCLE -- A virtual reality bike ride encompassing an all over body and cardiovascular workout.  .

CORE CONDITIONING -- An ab class dedicated to abdominal and core work.

KICKBOXING -- An interval high intensity cardiovascular workout using a variety of kicks and arm punches and jabs, a total body workout.

NIA -- Sometimes referred to as “aerobic yoga,” Nia combines Eastern and Western styles to blend elements of dance, Tai Chi, martial arts, and yoga.  This class if for all skill levels.

PILATES -- This unique class is designed to improve flexibility and strength in a non-impact, balanced system of body/mind control. Core strengthening and conditioning.

PUMP --  Utilizes specially designed barbell system and incorporates the weights into a basic choreographed athletic workout set to motivating music. For beginner to conditioned athletes, this class strengthens, conditions, shapes, tones, and defines muscles.

SILVERSNEAKERS MSROM -- Enjoy a variety of exercise while moving to music in this chair based program. The class is designed to increase endurance and strength which will assist in easier management of your functional daily routine. Activities include exercise using hand-held weights, elastic tubing and balls plus learning to stretch and relax.

SILVERSNEAKERS (YOGA) -- Yoga Stretch will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity 

YOGA -- More athletes are discovering what the integrated mind-body approach to total wellness can do. Yoga wills stretch and strengthen your body n a totally new way to help relieve tension from your body that blocks energy flow and makes you more vulnerable to injury and illness

ZUMBA -- Latin inspired dance fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music and dance movements. Faster dance movements such as meringue and reggaeton are alternated with slower movements suck as cubia, salsa.
        
300 STRONG --A class that is inspired from the movie 300 that cuts and tones your body
