Healthy Living

Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. It’s about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind and body.

The Y is a place where you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, fostering connections with friends through our lifelong learning programs, or bringing your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities. Beyond fitness facilities, we provide educational programs to promote healthier decisions, and offer a variety of programs that support physical, intellectual and spiritual strength.

At the Y, it’s not about the activity you choose as much as it is about the benefits of living healthier on the inside as well as the outside.

Improving your health, life and community.
Extending our life, improving our quality of life and the lives of those around us is important. The Y focuses on healthy living so you can do just that.

Family time:
Time at the Y will not only help you and your family to bond, but also grow as individuals. Adventure Guides and Princesses allow fathers to bond with their children as they learn about nature together. Family Fitness Karate and races with family run categories, like the Bunker Run, help families connect over shared interests. Our family programs and special events are building stronger families for a stronger community

Health, well-being and fitness:
At the Y, you and your health are important to us. That's why we offer so many ways to nurture your spirit, mind and body. Group exercise allows you to keep your body fit as you socialize. Active Older Adults can stay active physically and socially in our Silver Sneakers program. Fitness classes like yoga help you find time for exercise and give you a chance to forget your stress. Lifeguard certification allows you to continue learning, and more importantly, allows you to save lives. Nurturing your spirit, mind and body at the Y will lead to a healthier you and a healthier community

Sports and recreation:
Physical and social activity are a large part of a healthy and happy life. The Y is here to help you with staying active, no matter what your age group.  Youth sports will give kids and teens a passion for sports, keeping them healthy and giving them a positive outlet for energy. Sunshine sports give kids and teens with exceptional needs the chance to learn new skills and interact socially. Adult sports and Chattanooga on the Move keep adults active, even during work days. Staying active together brings us together as a community.

Group interests:
Group interests keep us connected. Our Active Older Adults have regular meetings and outings. In nutrition classes you will learn with other Y members about how to stay healthy and eat right. Learning and sharing trips together bonds us as members of the Y and members of the community
